About Project 529

Project 529 a bike registration program that uses a free app and online service to help prevent and recover stolen bicycles. The program, often partnered with police departments and universities, allows cyclists to register their bikes with details and photos, which can be used to create theft alerts that notify the local community, police, and bike shops.

Each registered bike gets a a tamper-resistant "529 shield" sticker is also a key part of the system, acting as a deterrent to thieves and an easy way to identify a registered bike.

Volunteers Joel Canfield and Melissa Griswold take a lead in this project, with regularly scheduled 529 registrations held on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
