Pedal Progress - A Tour of Cycling Infrastructure in Nanaimo
Graphic: Map of the event (supplied).
Come join us for a fun and informative event exploring the cycling infrastructure in Nanaimo!
Pedal Progress is a great opportunity to learn more about bike lanes, paths, and other cycling amenities in our city. The event will have 5 key stops (Powder Works Road, Boxwood Road, Parkway Underpass, Metral Drive and Bowen Road). This tour will be guided by Strong Towns Nanaimo, Team Copenhagen and City of Nanaimo staff.
We will meet at gravel lot between Frank Crane Arena and Beban Park Athletic Fields where we will kick off our tour. There will be a "Cycle in Nanaimo" flag.
Whether you're a seasoned cyclist, bike-commuter, or newer to the activity, this event is perfect for anyone interested in improving cycling in Nanaimo and learning about the improved bike routes.
Don't miss out on this chance to pedal around and discover the progress being made in our community, while meeting some awesome people along the way!
This event is proudly sponsored by Strong Towns Nanaimo.

City of Nanaimo Community Engagement: Woodgrove Area Plan
The City of Nanaimo is seeking feedback for it’s Woodgrove Area Plan. This plan will have significant impact on important active transit infrastructure in the area.
With a few exceptions like Metal Drive, the Woodgrove area lacks adequate infrastructure for cyclists and active transit users.
We’re asking our members and supporters to take the survey and ensure that the voices of cyclists and vulnerable road users are heard. This ensures safe infrastructure is top of mind for decision makers and planners.

Strong Towns: Roy Symons
This month, we’re excited to welcome Roy Symons, a local urbanist and cycling advocate, to our monthly meetup. Roy is a Sustainable Transportation Specialist with ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. where he works with cities to plan and design better active transportation facilities and safer streets.
